Workers’ Compensation

Since its inception, Morris & Morris has represented employers, insurance carriers, and self-insureds throughout Virginia in workers’ compensation proceedings. The firm handles all phases of workers’ compensation litigation, including hearings and appeals before the Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission, the Virginia Court of Appeals, and the Supreme Court of Virginia. Our attorneys recently handled an appeal to the Court of Appeals on the issue of the claimant’s failure to adequately market her residual work capacity, and routinely practice before the Commission in Richmond, Virginia Beach, Harrisonburg and Alexandria.

Morris & Morris works directly with company representatives and claims department personnel, enabling us to aggressively defend our clients’ interests. Our attorneys provide early investigation and analysis of claims, as well as effective evaluations, in an effort to minimize unnecessary litigation, costs, and expenses. Of course, if a claim cannot be resolved, our attorneys are prepared to provide aggressive litigation to get the best results possible for our clients. Beyond offering complete litigation services, we work with our clients to develop appropriate claims investigation programs.

Our attorneys are available for consultation from the time an accident occurs through the conclusion of the claim. We can assist in preparing a First Report of Accident, providing a panel of physicians, or providing an opinion on the compensability of a claim. In addition, our attorneys are available to discuss accident prevention and accident reporting procedures to help eliminate the number of workers’ compensation injuries. We can provide recommendations for offering light duty and vocational rehabilitation to assist in returning injured employees to work to alleviate the ongoing costs of disability benefits.
