Joseph Moore

Joseph M. Moore has successfully represented both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide range of civil litigation matters, with emphasis in the areas of premises liability, trucking litigation, personal injury, and commercial disputes. Mr. Moore has handled every phase of the litigation process, from investigation through discovery and trial. He also has experience handling mediations and other forms of alternative dispute resolution. Mr. Moore regularly practices in all state courts in Virginia as well as the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia. He has also argued appellate matters before the Supreme Court of Virginia and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

Mr. Moore has been recognized as a “Rising Star” in Law & Politics magazine’s list of Virginia Super Lawyers for the last three years (2008-2010).

Mr. Moore is an active member of ALFA International and serves on the Steering Committees for the Transportation Group and Hospitality Group.  His articles regarding fraudulent joinder and removal have been published in ALFA’s Transportation Update Fall 2008 and Spring 2010 editions.  He was the Course Book Editor for the Transportation Group’s 2010 conference.  He has also been a presenter for the National Business Institute, and is actively involved in the Richmond Bar Association.

Prior to joining Morris & Morris, Mr. Moore served as a law clerk to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. In that capacity, he conducted extensive research and drafted memoranda and proposed opinions for the Court.

Mr. Moore was born in Cooperstown, New York and earned his undergraduate degree, cum laude in politics from Ithaca College.  He then attended Syracuse University College of Law where he graduated cum laude. In his spare time, Mr. Moore enjoys playing golf, politics and spending time with his wife, Jennifer, his son Jacob, his daughter Macie and his dog Cooper.
